These categories cover the full supply chain from silviculture to logging, road civil engineering and then to truck drivers, port marshalling and stevedoring. some will be very specific to a sector of the industry but the general ones are available to anyone. The eastland wood council provides a collective voice for the forestry industry in the eastland region which encompasses the gisborne and wairoa district council areas and stretches from the mohaka river in the south to east cape in the north. The eastland forestry awards took place in gisborne on friday 24 may, with 500 colleagues coming together. the audience were there to celebrate the nominees and winners put forward by their peers and their companies. taking out the top gong was curtis hawkes, hawkes logging. Two years ago, the eastland wood council celebrated a decade of forestry awards for the region and at the same time also committed to staging the event biannually. the awards in 2019 celebrated all the exemplar winners and many finalists over the ten years.
