2MP Fixed Turret Camera - TA SECURITY SYSTEM 1080p 1,920x1,080 2,073,600 (>2mp) progressive it depends on what usage are you planning. if you want to project your video on a large screen (e.g. projector), then use a higher video mode of at least 1080p which of course requires a higher resolution (means more mega pixels) for smooth projection of the image. This is a great answer to the "is 2mp enough for a 4x6" question. if you answer the "do i need (to shop for) a "better" camera?" piece, i would give you an a , because that is really what they want, i think.

4MP Fixed Turret Camera - TA SECURITY SYSTEM Naive assumption: 24mp sensor vs a full hd monitor of 2mp, sensor has much more resolution. second look: you sample something that is not synchronous to your sampling raster/clock, you need to respect nyquist so you either lose something to antialiasing or to aliasing, you end up with only half the resolution in each dimension guaranteed. As someone who owns the 12.2mp canon 450d, and who has used a friends 18mp canon 550d on several occasions, i can say with confidence that the newer 18mp sensor has far superior noise performance. noise on the 450d is terrible beyond iso400. noise on the 550d is acceptable up to iso1600. The canon 1d x mk2 is the new flagship of canon. so why does this top camera only have a 20.2 mp sensor? i mean its 2016, even mobile phones have a higher resolution. i knew its not all about the. To put this into perspective, 2mp = 2 mega pixel = 2 million pixels = 1920*1080 = full hd. i'm not a photographer (nor do i know a thing about photography), but as a programmer i know full hd is more then enough to create a sharp image with lots of detail (might be different for a photo, but still 5mp should be the highest you will ever need for non billboard photos).

I am trying to find out the definition of a megapixel? some references on the web place it at 1 million pixels, and other places say it is equal to 2^20 = 1,048,576 pixels. Magnifying a 24mp image to 100% on an fhd (1920x1080=2mp) monitor will crop more of the image than magnifying the same 24mp image on a 4k (3840x2160=8mp) monitor by a linear factor of 2x. Slightly higher resolution (24.1mp vs. 20.2mp) two thirds stop higher native iso (25600 vs 16000) but no 1/2 or 1/3 stop iso settings and the same extended iso of 51200. If the camera is 1080p, i.e. capable of fhd with a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels, then this is 2073600 pixels, or about 2mp — so much less than is technically achievable by a 12mp camera.
