Our church history. asbury united methodist church was officially established in 1838. that makes us the oldest african american congregation in the city of annapolis and anne arundel county. to learn more about the history of our church, visit our church history page. In a special service at 4 p.m. sunday, feb. 18, asbury mount olive umc, 1196 sw buchanan st., will host nearby calvary baptist church for its celebration. a play, “remembering the past,” will include a narrator and actors representing historic african americans, including frederick douglass and rosa parks. Join us in celebrating and honoring black history month. worship begins at 11:30 am. Wednesday night, bible study will resume in march and begins at 7 pm. we also have choir practice on wednesdays at 6 pm. the senior bible study meets at thursday at eleven eight, 11: 30 am, and food bags are packed every sunday after church to deliver to the alternative school. we hope you will consider participating in our weekly events.
