Unitarian Church - Mid-Century Spokane Rev. dr. todd eklof came to uucs in 2011. todd is recognized locally and regionally for his prophetic activism around marriage equality, environmental issues, peace and restorative justice. As many of you may recall, email scammers targeting our church staff and members have several times over the past few years sent out fake emails looking like they come from our minister, staff, or congregation members, asking the recipients to contact them or do them a quick and/or discreet favor.

Unitarian Church - Mid-Century Spokane These scammers are very convincing at impersonating ministers or other staff. some are even impersonating fellow congregation members. if you receive a text or email asking for money or membership information that does not come from a legitimate @uuabq.org email address, it is a scam. It is super easy for someone who has our church's directory, or is just accessing our group hvuuc emails from our website, to create a fake email account, steal pictures from our website, and pretend to be the minister or other staff members. Have you ever gotten an email from a trusted source that seemed fishy? maybe it appeared to come from a minister or a fellow congregant, asking you to “click here” or enter your personal information. it could have been a scam. and if you have received such an email, you’re not alone. One email (or call) and one check, and you avoid a scam that could cost hundreds or thousands of dollars! we do not know if responding compromises your account in any way so it's best to not engage with the senders at all if possible.
