Bridging The Digital Divide In South Asia | UNICEF South Asia Americans are increasingly divided along social and political lines. the evidence for this polarization can be found in our most intimate relationships and in our most public policy debates. political scientists are finding that more and more people are either all liberal or all conservative in their political positions—and so are the politicians they elect, as reflected in their votes. There are many misconceptions about bridging differences, so we consulted with researchers and practitioners to clarify what it is—and what it isn’t.

Bridging The Digital Divide In South Asia | UNICEF South Asia 6 what is the bridging differences playbook? under our bridging differences program, we have reviewed decades of scientific studies, interviewed dozens of leaders, and surveyed the landscape of relevant programs. from this work we have collected enduring wisdom and best practices for bridging political, racial, religious, or other divides. The day began with a greeting from jason marsh, ggsc’s executive director. “partisanship, polarization doesn’t just magically go away, even when faced with a pandemic,” marsh said, referencing the covid 19 crisis as he introduced the bridging differences project. “so, what can we do then to bridge our differences, forge a greater sense of solidarity, social cohesion?” marsh. That is why we work to cultivate the will and practice the skills for bridging gaps and crossing lines of difference to solve pressing problems, on campuses, in workplaces, congregations, organizations and communities. at this moment, this is counter cultural work. Join our 7 day campaign for connection challenge to navigate division, foster understanding, and ease stress in this election season and beyond. Bridge builders came together in chicago to look at how research can help us connect across our differences and build a pluralistic society. Americans are increasingly divided along social and political lines. the evidence for this polarization can be found in our most intimate relationships and in our most public policy debates. political scientists are finding that more and more people are either all liberal or all conservative in their political positions—and so are the politicians they elect, as reflected in their votes. So far, more than 200 campus leaders—faculty, staff, and administrators—have participated in an eight month facilitated virtual program called the bridging differences in higher education learning fellowship. during the fellowship, campus leaders get to sharpen their bridging skills and learn strategic tactics and practices from each other. Facilitating bridging discussions this practice invites educators to reflect on how to best engage in “bridging differences” discussions around justice and equity in the classroom. what are your motivations for engaging in practices that encourage bridging differences and understanding and pursuing justice? why is this work important to you?.
