One last point, i feel like the car dealer market is being disrupted by the likes of carvana, vroom, etc. who knows what the future holds as the boomer generation dies off and those who grew up on computers are the “old people”… old people who are much more comfortable buying things online, including cars. thanks for the comment. Took the car to a lexus dealership for a post purchase inspection as soon as possible. again everything looked fine, except for an oil leak on the timing cover and some grease leaking from somewhere else i can't remember. lexus didn't charge me anything for the inspection, which was nice. i took the car back to carmax with lexus' feedback. I think when you are considering buying a brand new car, your post assumptions are correct that leasing provides more options (at the end of the lease) vs purchasing out right. additionally, if shopped right, you can get lease bonuses that will also help with your car purchase.
