Looking for your thoughts on 24 hour shifts in private ems. for reference, i work in a busy (mil) midwestern (aukee) urban area, and i'm not surprised to run anywhere from 16 to 35 calls in a 24 hour shift. my gripe is where do we start drawing the line when fatigue, exhaustion, and lack of sleep starts affecting our patient care.
