I've explored a 3x3 grid as 4/4 zoom on the map tiles with a tenth tile on the bottom left and they've all lined up perfectly until i try for an eleventh tile. no matter which tile i try next, they overlap previous tiles by around half a tile and nothing will line up. is this a bug or is it normal?. I'm thinking of things i'd like to do, and one thing i keep seeing is people who make these giant walls of maps. i think they're gorgeous, but how do you get all your maps to line up so well?. Making a map of your home base with the base actually centered on the map would become impossible unless you purposefully built your base at the exact arbitrary "world grid aligned" spot. that would suck big time. so, i propose having the best of both worlds through simple changes.

No matter how good you are at the game, a map will always be needed to know your position in the world. unfortunately, we have seen new players complaining about the map not being centered, no matter how many times they craft it. If i remember right, the new map will include chunks that border your current map, so your house will move closer to to the center. it might take a few expansions before this happens. To make a map that is not identical to the first one, the player would have to move outside of the edges of the first map (because then they would be in a new grid square). this way, no two maps of the same size can ever partially overlap and every map can display only a fixed area.
