How Understanding Personality Types Helps Writers | Dr. Michelle Bengtson Just because sentinel personality types don’t spend time imagining themselves composing a book, however, doesn’t mean that they won’t eventually do so. because sentinels are so committed to effective, efficient processes and systems, they often want to share them with others. Personality inventories like the myers briggs are tools. they are not exhaustive, don’t typecast, and don’t limit your growth. in fact, many people identify their weaknesses and learn to compensate for them as a result of the inventory. Some writers assign the personality type to a character before they start figuring out other aspects of the character based on the personality type, but i prefer to explore my character first (goals, motivations, etc.) and then figure out the type.
