Iceberg | Encyclopedia Titanica Message Board Here is something interesting about the iceberg which i present for discussion. every eyewitness testimony regarding the berg that titanic struck called it, "blue ice," indicating that the berg had capsized. There are no comments to display.

Iceberg | Encyclopedia Titanica Message Board So, i'm wondering, why do all the depictions i've seen show a berg with so little of its underwater mass on the side titanic struck? could there not have been much more to the berg on that side, under the water?. Nobody, so far as i can see, could argue against one taking one's chances and leaping off the side, and i can hardly imagine an officer telling you that you can't do that, but have to stay on board to die. One of the many in depth discussions on the et message board, join now to join in https://www.encyclopedia titanica.org/community/. A serious minded/discussion based subreddit for titanic enthusiasts, historians, and anyone interested in learning more about the legendary ship! apologies if this isnt the place to ask, but i was wondering if anyone knew the criteria to be able to post in the forums on encyclopedia titanica?. Speaking of the iceberg, in case anyone hasn't seen a photo of the actual bane of titanic, the photo is here. it gives me chills. especially the right part of the iceberg you can tell that is where it collided with titanic! it's from this article. It is an interesting new perspective on the titanic disaster and helps explain how a ship of that size moving 37 feet a second could hit a large iceberg while leaving the passengers and crew with the impression of a minor bump and doing so little structural damage to the starboard side. Encyclopedia titanica is an online reference work containing extensive and constantly updated information on the rms titanic.
