Health promoter (lived experience) this part time (20 hours) role sits within the nōku te ao programme team, a small, motivated and engaged group dedicated to reducing stigma and discrimination against those experiencing mental distress. All the courses at reframe wānanga are based on co production, which means that the courses are designed and run by people with lived experience and professionals. we place equal value on expertise learnt by experience and expertise gained from working professionally.

Individuals and communities with first hand experience in living with or being affected by noncommunicable diseases (ncds), and mental health and neurological conditions hold the key to designing effective, inclusive, equitable health interventions that leave no one behind. When reviewing mental health funding applications, we consider how lived experience has been involved in a range of different ways relevant to the type, aims and ambitions of the project. The purpose of this toolkit is to encourage people with lived experience to engage in advocacy while using a trauma informed lens to take care of themselves and their stories.
