This project, commissioned by the provincial non profit ecampusontario, was carried out between january and february 2020. the goal of this work was to gain insight into the current status of la activities and conversations within ontario’s higher education institutions.

This first round of projects, which will be completed by march 2022, are significantly expanding options for traditional and life long learning through the accelerated use of both online and hybrid learning. This report is the first in a series of five virtual learning strategy (vls) focus reports that tell data driven stories about the vls investment. vls focus reports are accompanied by a series of five foresight reports. Following the pandemic pivot, our focus now shifts to digital by design. where the pandemic forced us all to rapidly move online, we now have the opportunity to more mindfully and artfully design digital learning environments that support all learners. the current social context informs our work.
