Pavee Point Traveller And Roma Centre Welcomes State Accountability Pavee point welcomes the publication of the first national traveller and roma education strategy (tres) following its consideration by cabinet on 15th july and the subsequent launch statement by norma foley minister for education on july 16th. The publication of ntris ii directly results from lobbying by traveller organisations and groups working with roma to develop and implement a comprehensive successor strategy to ensure a strategic, coordinated, whole of government approach to traveller and roma inclusion.

The organisation works from a community development perspective and promotes the realisation of human rights and equality for travellers and roma in ireland. while travellers have made a massive contribution to ireland’s cultural heritage, travellers as a collective are invisible in today’s culture and arts sectors. Pavee point welcomed the publication and launch of the first national traveller and roma education strategy (tres) in july 2024 by minister for education, norma foley, td, minister for children, equality, disability, integration and youth roderic o’gorman, td, and minister for further and higher education, research, innovation and science. Today, wednesday 31st july, 2024, 1pm, pavee point traveller and roma centre welcomed the publication of the second national traveller and roma inclusion strategy (ntris ii) 2024 2028 by the department of children, equality, disability, integration and youth and minister o’gorman. We particularly welcome their inclusion of clear and comprehensive recommendations to address the stark inequalities currently faced by traveller and roma women.
