I'm starting this thread to share my build and restoring of my 1978 jeep cj5, and occasional share on the wrangler. this isn't a ground up restore or anything like that. i bought it as a project to fix up and get back in the road. it's a frankenstein jeep for running gear. Current build includes 258 c.i., t 18, dana 20 w tera low, rock jock 60 in back, tri county dana 44 up front. suspension consists of custom alcan 4" sua w bilstein shocks rear stretched about 3 4", front stretched 1.25". This is a 1978 jeep cj 5 that was bought and a full rebuild started well over 10 years ago, i don't think it's been touched in over 8 years. engine freshly rebuilt 304 ci amc (jeep) v8, forged 0.030" 9.5:1 pistons, comp cams camshaft and lifters, edelbrock performer manifold, demon 650 carburetor, dui distributor, headers, alum valve covers. Hi there, i just get a 1978 cj5, just get engine inspected and fix for 250 and it runs perfect .now the rest is a big project i have no jeep experience before. i will need help. thank you. This 1978 cj 5 has been in our stable since 1997 and as soon as we had our hands on it all kinds of ideas filled our heads. the jeep was essentially a restored stock jeep with an amc v8 and a fiberglass body. it’s hard to find a more perfect jeep to start a project. the equipment list is below and continues to evolve.
