The rtv issue was really a batch of cars that were made with too much rtv sealing the oil pan. while they’ll never admit it, i’m sure subaru/toyota have tightened up the amounts on the assembly line. as for oil starvation, even the first gend suffered from this, it’s a really old issue. The rtv has 645 hours and apparently had a history of overheating. he said his mechanic removed the head, replaced the head gasket and pressure tested everythink checked out. he said they determined the thermostat housing gasket was the source of leak and replaced solving the issue. That rtv is cured in about 5 minutes i believe. so you just apply the rtv and torque to spec asap. if diy, you're probably using something cheaper like permatex ultra black (that's what i always use). the directions state to first snug the bolts/nuts until the rtv oozes out a little, then wait an hour, then torque to spec. Looking for a little bit of help on kubota rtv 900w i have. its a 2005 model year with approximately 1018 hours on it. it is used to groom cross country ski trails with a set of camoplast tracks. i was not driving it at the time but it was apparently going along and then just started to lose.
