Sender Stop Working · Issue #766 · Winder/Universal-G-Code-Sender · GitHub I've also been able to write some simple sketches that activate/control the motors, but i cannot seem to get universal g code sender to connect to the arduino. i've loaded/installed grbl on my arduino uno and can see that it was successful. I just read on the ugs google group that will winder has released a nightly build that includes a run from here feature. using this, if ugs freezes or the mill stops running a gcode file for any other reason, we will be able to edit the gcode file in ugs and have it run a new file from where. Ugs has three simple primary missions: take g code from your computer and send it to your controller. send signals to your controller for setting up jobs. examples: homing, jogging and setting work coordinate system (wcs) manually. displaying and changing controller status. Universal gcode sender is a self contained java application which includes all external dependencies and can be used on most computers running windows, macosx or linux. fully modular gui, reconfigure windows to suite your needs. built in gcode editor with line highlighter and syntax highlighting.

I was using the cnc3018 (grbl v0.9) with offline controller connected. for some reason the controller was causing this issue. when i disconected the controller it worked. just getting started with ugs after some years off. turns out the latest posting is the same problem i'm having. G code issues with universal g code sender. i got a cnc about 2 weeks ago and have been slowly figuring out g code stuff. i'm sure i still don't have it right though. my current issue is that whenever i try to run a program, it retracts my z axis all the way and hits the limit switch and triggers an error and stops before it ever gets started. Toolpath generation/visualization logic: while ugs isn't primarily a cam (computer aided manufacturing) software, it contains logic to interpret g code and generate a visual representation of the toolpath for the user.
