The Borgen Project - BORGEN Poverty is the leading root cause of the abundance of street children in uganda. however, a large amount of the children are on the streets because they were orphaned by hiv/aids. the rampages by the lord’s resistance army, led by joseph kony, also force children to flee their homes in fear. As society’s attention turns primarily to resolving the issues faced by girls, concerns over the neglect of boy children in uganda are mounting. while the emphasis on supporting the girl child is crucial, the adverse consequences of neglecting boys merit immediate attention.

The Neglect Of Uganda's Children-BORGEN With the help of agencies like the african network for the prevention and protection against child abuse and neglect, this problem can be fixed. the ugandan street children need to be cared for, rather than beaten. Alarmingly high numbers of ugandan children experience or are at risk of experiencing abuse and neglect. this article analyzes the state of priority for and quality of governance of uganda’s formal system for the care of orphans and vulnerable children (ovc). Uganda (also called the republic of uganda) is a country in east africa that comprises 21 million children (46 percent of the total population). with famine, constant conflict, aids, and poverty, uganda has been challenged with several issues that significantly affect children’s lives. To address the issue of child neglect, more needs to be done to educate communities, parents, caregivers, and children themselves about child neglect, its consequences and available support services.
