Today toyota makes their truck frames using laser welds, eliminating the rust issue of stick welds. they also have eliminated most or all of the sharp edges which were the other key rust starting point by edge welding the various thicknesses together rather than stacking them on top of each other. I’m really happy with my fj. have put 35s on (chop), new suspension and control arms, baja rack, rooftop tent, lights (all), blackout kit, winch etc. but there’s little i want to do now apart from overlanding in it. which is fine. just loved working on it. anyone else faced some post fj vision. Do you suppose one of the reasons toyota recommends putting the transfer case into 4h at least once a month is to exercise the add and the sliding sleeve? in other words, could the lack of actuation of the add system cause it to potentially hesitate or stick? is the majority of add problems electrical or is mechanical problems quite common as well?.
