D D Miniatures 5 In this episode we debate the pros and cons of using miniatures at the tabletop, and we unearth some pretty striking conclusions along the way!. I personally create my own miniatures for my d&d games, but i was curious how other people feel about it. for that reason i created this poll.

D D Miniatures 5 Miniatures and grids are not necessary for playing d&d 5e, they can be useful visual aids for combat as you can see exactly where you are relative to other characters but, outside of combat, there is little need to use them. Overall, it is worth it to use figurines for player characters, monsters, and terrain in typical dungeons & dragons games. Some people love using miniatures in tabletop rpgs like dungeons and dragons because they provide a visual representation of where things are on the table. others dislike them because they can take up space or get knocked over easily if you’re not careful. I've rarely used miniatures in face to face games, mainly because i've never been able to afford good miniatures (or any miniatures, really), and especially, not to buy enough of them, plus paints, brushes, etc, to learn how to properly paint the things.

Any rpg that uses real world units for movement and range can be used with miniatures and 5e is no exception in that regard. thus it is a choice of presentation. Historically, i've hardly ever used miniatures for d&d combat. in fact, for the vast majority of rpgs that i've played, the miniatures have been mostly useless perhipheral products. although my game group and i certainly had a shitload of minis anyway for some reason. I admire anyone that can keep all that in their head without some kind of mini or stand in, but i'm not one of them. the reason i use the roll20 grid is because there isn't any clean up, and i don't have to worry about finding a mini for some obscure monster. Miniatures don't have to be metagaming. they also don't need to be used for every battle or encounter. here are a couple ways that support a few different game types.
