Human Versus Computer1 | PDF | Computer Graphics | Computing It provides two examples to illustrate how subtle differences between input devices can significantly impact their effectiveness for particular applications. the first example compares two isometric joysticks that differ in size and required force. Like a computer, the human brain inputs, processes, stores and outputs information. yet the brain has evolved along different design principles from those behind the von neumann computer architecture which most computers still follow today.

In this appendix chapter, we discuss hci, the interaction between man and machine which has been a quite successful approach. Initially, we outline the anatomy of human visual system (hvs) and characteristics of human perception. consecutively, we summarize the usage of hvs knowledge in computer graphics, we point out the bottlenecks of contemporary methods and we give the suggestions for future research. Experimenting over 7 datasets, where human data is available, and gauging 14 well established models, we find that none fully resembles humans in all aspects, and we learn from each test which models and features are more promising in approaching hu mans in the tested dimension.
