My locs do have meaning, i chose to grow them to symbolize dedication and growth. i told my wife the day after our wedding that i would grow my hair out to symbolize my love and devotion to her. so now she refers to my locs as "marital locs". In the three months before my first retwist, i read articles and watched a few videos on how to care for starter locs. the important tips were to just let my hair grow in the twist and not to pull on my first few retwists as my hair could unravel because no locs had formed yet.
