Since it began in 1962, as the institute for retired professionals (irp), thousands of retired and semi retired adults of varied ages, education and careers have been leading and taking study groups based on the principles of peer learning.

Originally developed at ucla by dr. elizabeth laugeson, director of the ucla peers® clinic, peers® programs have been extensively researched and disseminated worldwide through translation, cross cultural validation studies, and certified provider trainings. Programs – Peer Learning Institute Originally developed at ucla by dr. elizabeth laugeson, director of the ucla peers® clinic, peers® programs have been extensively researched and disseminated worldwide through translation, cross cultural validation studies, and certified provider trainings. Pti trainings, community education, referrals, and support services promote recovery, access to care, and improved health among low income new yorkers with substance use and/or mental health conditions, hiv, and other chronic illnesses. Learning in lp 2 is both an intellectual and social experience, where common interests provide a foundation for new friendships. current members are semi retired or retired professionals who pursue serious, peer led inquiry through our lifelong learning program. The lifelong peer learning program is open to retired and semi retired people regardless of their education, career background, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, national origin or physical limitations. What does peer learning mean? olli at northwestern is one of only a handful of peer led, lifelong learning programs in the country, which includes programs at harvard, brandeis, and the institute for retired professionals (irp) at the new school in new york city.
